From the mysterious Gothic Quarter to the countless beautiful views of the city from abve, Barcelona is easy to fall in love with—and in!
These are just a few of our favorite romantic Barcelona sights and experiences. Get ready to make the most of the Catalan capital with your special someone!
Romantic Barcelona: 5 Things to Do
1. Ride an aerial cable car
Get carried away by romantic Barcelona on the dreamy teleferic! This aerial cable car gets some of the best views of the city around as it whisks you away from the port and up to Miramar on the hill of Montjuic.
Tickets go for €11 one way and €16.50 round trip, and the experience of drinking in breathtaking views of the city with your significant other is worth every cent.
2. Take a stroll in the park
If you’re after a pristine and centrally located park, our go-to would be Parc de la Ciutadella bordering the trendy Born neighborhood and just north of Barceloneta. But if you have the time and are looking for something a bit more romantic, head to the Parc del Labirint d’Horta.
This is a beautiful labyrinth park complete with rose gardens, canals, and 18th-century homes, all just a quick ride from the city center on metro line 3. One look and you’ll immediately understand why it’s one of the most romantic Barcelona destinations!
3. Wine and dine
There are countless places to enjoy a romantic Barcelona meal. But if you need help narrowing it down, you can’t go wrong with these spots.
- Pla is tucked away on a narrow street of the Gothic Quarter. Head here for creative Catalan cuisine, fantastic service and an unbeatable ambiance in their split-level dining room.
- China Crown is worth a visit for much more than its beautifully presented contemporary Asian cuisine. It’s located in Casa Calvet, a Gaudi building that combines an elegant setting with modernist touches.
- Les Gens Que J’Aime opened in the 60s and is arguably one of the sexiest spots in Barcelona. Head here for a speakeasy vibe and the best handcrafted cocktails in Eixample.
4. See a show
There’s just something so romantic about the classic experience of getting dressed up and heading out to see a movie or a live performance with your significant other. Barcelona is home to a host of excellent live music venues, from the grandiose Palau de la Música to tiny, intimate spots that let you see the performers up close. You can also see world-class theater performances throughout the city.
If you’re planning your romantic Barcelona trip for July or August, don’t miss out on Montjuïc’s impressive open-air movie experience. Bring your own blankets or rent some of the very comfortable lounge chairs available and settle in to watch a movie under the stars at the foot of the imposing Montjuïc Castle. All movies are in the original language, and there is usually an intimate live concert to kick off the unforgettable summer evening.
5. Relax in an ancient bathhouse
Roaming around the Born neighborhood, you might never expect to find a modern spa built into centuries-old ruins. However, that’s exactly what Aire Barcelona is. This beautifully restored bathhouse is one of the most unique spas in all of Barcelona. Kick back in their many varying temperature pools, and indulge in a relaxing massage while you’re at it.
