If you’re like us, you’ve probably waited until the last minute to hunt down souvenirs from Barcelona for your friends and family back home. You’ve possibly also managed to pick up several Sagrada Familia magnets just in case! However, you’ll need to get a little more creative than fridge decor for some. Read on for inspiration, and more importantly, where to find those typical souvenirs from Barcelona.

When your time in Barcelona is up, it's time to take home a piece of the city! From food gifts to art, books and posters, there's something for everyone when it comes to Barcelona souvenirs. Here we've listed a few of our favorites so you know what to look out for during your trip. #bucketlist #destinations #summertravel #foodie #barcelona #wine

Vermouth

Nothing says Barcelona like a chilled glass of sweet red vermouth before lunch. It’s a sacred tradition that, when tested for the first time, usually converts. One of the first vermouths made here in Catalonia is vermouth Perucci. You can find this at any bodega or wine shop around the city. Although we personally love Bodega Maestrazgo (Sant Pere Mes Baix, 90) in the Born. Of course, you could also go for something a little more modern with a design-lovers bottle from the famous Casa Mariol (Carrer Rosselo, 442).

Turron

Turron may be a Christmas sweet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t buy it year round. The traditional nougat bar comes in a variety of flavors and textures. All of which you can find in the beautiful shop of Torrons Vicens (Carrer Consell de Cent, 308) in the Eixample district. We also love Pastisseria Brunells in the Born (Carrer de Princesa, 22) who make not only turron but a whole range of delicious Catalan pastries!

Conserves

Conserved goods are highly prized in Barcelona. Often you will find that fresh seafood, for example, is cheaper than its canned counterpart. That’s because there is a serious art that goes into conserving anything from razor clams to artichokes. One of the most typical souvenirs from Barcelona comes not from the city but rather the northern coast—the Costa Brava—is anchovies. Grab a jar of the famous l’Escala anchovies at any grocery store you pass.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Did you know that Spain is the world’s biggest producer of extra virgin olive oil? It’s the perfect souvenir for that foodie friend. Head to Oli Sal (Travessera de Gracia, 170) in Gracia for the best selection of liquid gold and other culinary treats in Barcelona. Furthermore, visit it with us for a mini master class and tasting on a Gracia Neighborhood Food & Market Tour!

Espardenyes

It’s said that espardenyes, the popular canvas and jute rope shoes originating in the Pyrenees mountains. They also date back to the 14th century! During spring, summer, and fall, you will see locals sporting them all over Barcelona. Simple, comfortable and unisex, get a pair for everyone you know! Buy them at the oldest shop in the Gothic Quarter, Manuela Apalagatera (Carrer Avinyo, 7).

Leather Goods

Leather bags, shoes, wallets—there’s a reason Bob Dylan sang about Spanish leather. There are plenty of places to find the perfect leather souvenirs in Barcelona, but let us suggest supporting a local workshop and going to Alexis Fasoli (Carrer a la Volta dels Tamborets, 4) in the Born, where each piece is handmade and one of a kind.

Barca Jersey

This one may seem obvious, but for those who are not in tune with the soccer fever in Spain, the Barcelona Football Club’s colors are emblematic around here. Grab a Messi jersey at literally any souvenir shop in town.

Modernist Tile Book

The tiles that decorate Barcelona’s streets and typical modernist buildings are greatly admired by locals and visitors alike. Find neat coffee table books that display them at all the museum gift shops. You could also try ordering online at Amazon.

Picasso Poster

Picasso came to Barcelona at the ripe age of 14 to study at the School of Fine Arts. One of his most famous paintings, Las Señoritas de Avignon, is just one piece of work that was directly inspired by the streets, or in this case, one street, of Barcelona. Furthermore, find this print and many others at the Picasso Museum (Carrer Montcada) in the Born.
